About us

A More Certain
Tomorrow for
Families

Shinsegaelaw is a Korean law firm that practises only two areas: divorce and inheritance.

Founded by Dr. Insup Cho, Korea’s first certified family law specialist, the firm has grown to about twenty lawyers, all of whom work exclusively on family matters. Our head office is next to the Seoul Family Court, and we have offices in Suwon, Incheon, Daejeon and Namyangju.

Because we do nothing else, we handle a very large number of family cases each year. That volume gives us something a general practice cannot offer: current, first-hand knowledge of how Korean family judges actually decide property division, custody, child support and inheritance disputes.

Cross-Border Matters

When Korea is part of the case,
the legal questions change.

A growing share of our work involves another country: a foreign spouse, assets held abroad, a judgment from a foreign court, or a child moved across a border. This page summarises the questions foreign lawyers most often ask us. It is a general guide, not advice on a specific case.
